The legacy of Gibson’s “King of the Flat-Tops” lives on in the SJ-200™ 60s Original. From its inaugural appearance in 1937, the Gibson SJ-200 set an unmatched standard. The SJ-200 60s Original continues the legacy of one of the world’s most famous and popular acoustic guitars. It replicates the SJ-200 as it appeared in the 1960s, a time when the model could be found in the hands of such noteworthy players as Pete Townshend, Bob Dylan, and George Harrison, among others. This is the SJ-200 as used on some of the most legendary songs and albums ever recorded. It now comes equipped with the Gibson-exclusive, custom-voiced Baggs™ HiFi DNA™ pickup system, delivering the guitar’s bold voice and every nuance of your playing with exceptional realism when amplified.

The SJ-200 60s Original features an AAA figured maple back and sides, with a checkerboard marquetry strip down the center of the back, and a solid AAA Sitka spruce top with traditional scalloped X-bracing. It is presented in distinctive 60s-style nitrocellulose lacquer finishes. The two-piece maple neck has a walnut stringer and a comfortable Round profile, along with a narrower 1.687-inch nut width as found on SJ-200 guitars from that era, which makes first-position chords easier to play. The rosewood fretboard is dressed up with classic mother-of-pearl graduated crown inlays, one of the visual hallmarks of the SJ-200, and is equipped with 20 standard frets.

The no-border SJ-200 pickguard features instantly identifiable, iconic graphics, and the solid rosewood Moustache™ bridge is adorned with mother-of-pearl hourglass and teardrop inlays. In a nod to the preferences of many modern players, instead of a Tune-O-Matic™, the SJ-200 60s Original features a bone saddle. It also comes equipped with gold Grover® Rotomatic® tuners for solid tuning stability, a bone nut, and TUSQ® bridge pins.

Inside, the SJ-200 60s Original is now equipped with the all-new Gibson-exclusive Baggs™ HiFi DNA™ pickup system. This active system uses two lightweight sensors mounted on the internal bridge plate. The sensors are matched with optimized individual preamps to deliver full-bodied, amplified acoustic tone that lets the guitar’s character and personality come through when amplified, with no impact on the unamplified tone. The Baggs™ HiFi DNA™ system offers comparable gain-before-feedback to an under-saddle pickup. The system also includes soundhole-mounted volume and tone controls that are quick and easy to access while playing, and all but invisible to your audience.

A Gibson hardshell case is also included, so the SJ-200 60s Original is ready to join you on stage, in the studio, or wherever the road takes you.
